First 24 Hours of Mailer Responses — What Nearby Residents Are Most Concerned About

HorseCreekProject.org successfully delivered 968 mailers to households near the proposed power plant and received 51 responses within the first 24 hours, representing an initial response rate of about 5.3%. Residents were asked an open-ended question about what concerned them most. Water and private wells were by far the most frequently mentioned issue, followed by noise, light pollution, traffic, air quality, property values, loss of rural character, and the project's proximity to existing homes. Because respondents could identify multiple concerns, percentages across categories total more than 100%.

The early responses show that concern is not focused on a single issue. Approximately 67% mentioned water or wells, 43% noise, 35% lighting, 31% traffic or roads, 31% air quality or emissions, and 22% property values. Residents also repeatedly described concern about losing the quiet, views, wildlife, and rural character that brought them to the area in the first place. These are voluntary responses rather than a scientific poll, but receiving 51 detailed responses in the first day suggests meaningful interest among nearby households and gives HorseCreekProject.org a clearer picture of which issues residents want investigated and addressed first.
