October 13 Community Meeting Draws Nearly 80 Residents and 67 Signatures
Nearly 80 people attended the October 13, 2026 HorseCreekProject.org community meeting to discuss the proposed Prairie West Energy Center. The meeting lasted approximately 90 minutes and included residents, HOA representatives, a Wyoming state senator, a state representative, and a Cheyenne City Council representative. Those officials attended without being specifically invited or asked to participate. During the meeting, 67 people signed the community letter opposing the proposed location, which was subsequently sent to elected officials, Black Hills Energy, and members of the news media.
The turnout demonstrated substantial community interest in the proposal and gave residents an opportunity to discuss concerns, exchange information, and organize around the regulatory process. The signed letter focuses on groundwater and domestic wells, noise, light pollution, traffic and road safety, air quality, property values, wildlife, and the compatibility of industrial development with the surrounding rural residential area. It asks Black Hills Energy and public officials to consider a more suitable location for the proposed facility. Community Letter - Prairie West…
